Dr. Dolly’s Musings …

Cherubs Playing in Clouds
I offer this first portion of a fanciful book manuscript I hope to have illustrated, or learn to creatively use AI and illustrate it myself, perhaps adapting my numerous cloud photos, and publish. Meanwhile, I decided to share this opening here as an upbeat, lighthearted so long, for now, to Dr. Dolly’s Musings…
Angelic cherubs may get tired of merely lollygagging around in the clouds. So, they get playful. Sometimes even mischievous.

Empathy Is Essential
“The fundamental weakness of Western Civilization Is empathy.” Said Elon Musk.
Yes, he really said it, as verified by fact checker Snopes. Didn’t merely believe it, as indicated by many actions he’s known to have taken, especially since 2025, when he catapulted to kitchen table prominence.

Are you better off this month than you were last April? Or last November? …

2025 “Delights”
The first quarter of 2025 is even more horrible than I expected, though none of it should actually surprise anyone who has been paying attention. As a former journalist, journalism teacher and professor, and natural news addict, I have been paying attention, long dreading exactly this, yet things are now worse than I envisioned. …

Inching forward
I just realized I say that a lot lately:
Inching forward.
I’m inching forward.
At least I’m inching forward.
Or to support a friend:
I’m glad you are inching forward.
Often the phrase is spoken during or about recovery from surgery or serious illness.
Those realities are pretty relevant lately, doncha know? …

SNOW GLOW—RARE GULF COAST DELIGHT
In this era of unpredictability, chaos, and anxiety, it is worth snatching and celebrating rare positive surprises and moments of joy. Countless Southerners across the Gulf Coast were blessed by both January 21-22, 2025, and I am forever grateful.
Rarity matters. But survival is paramount, and effort does count.

A mix of my favorite recent books extolling women heroes, some real, some fictional
Since 1987, America honors women particularly in the month of March, so we do here through contemporary literature by and about women. Some exemplary books celebrate heroines year round, often thru unforgettable characters real and imagined.
